Our Phaser solid ink printers failed after 4 years use and we decided to
switch to inkjet printers on our Macs. We upgraded two PM7300/200's with
Belkin USB cards. (One on our Facstar+ and one for our workstation). We are
using Cellquest 3.1 and did not not have any problems with installing System
8.6. Also upgraded RAM to 128MB, (very cheap at $39.95 from Other World
Computing, Chicago). 8.6 is recommended for USB support but it's not
perfect. The Belkin cards have 2 USB ports, though only one device will
work. We couldn't plug in a printer and a new optical mouse at the same
time, it was either the printer or the mouse. The printers were HP950c (nice
inkjet) on the Facstar+ and an HP940 (not as nice) for the workstation. I
also used 8.6 disk from home and it was smooth sailing. I just installed 8.6
as a system upgrade from 8.1 without any other software. I do believe that
8.6 is the highest version that Cellquest 3.1 will work with. There was a
thread in this list a while ago about not using 9.0 or higher.
