We tried to up grade and wanted USB also. I installed system 8.6 from a
disk that came w/ my home PowerMac and we had to have the BD tech come out
and reinstall everything. As of a few months ago, we were told the same
thing about up grading with the BD software.

Subject: Vantage and MacOS software

Quick questions:

We are running a PowerMac Desktop (300mHz) on a Vantage SE. It is
using system 8.1. We wanted to upgrade the system to a more modern
version (Sys 8.6 or 9.2) in order to improve performance and take
advantage of USB. We had planned to install a USB PCI card to do
this.

Interestingly, BD has claimed they do not support anything higher
than OS 8.1 on this configuration!?

1. Has anyone else upgraded the OS on a similar system and does it work?

2. Must Cellquest/Vantage use only OS 8.1?

3. Has anyone put a USB card in such a computer and does it work with
Cellquest/Vantage? We want to use it to drive a printer.

Thanks in advance for any input or advice.

Mark
