I have several power mac 7600 series with G3 upgrade cards, I run OS8.6 on all of
them with no problems. I have installed PCI USB cards in similar computers, using the
Cellquest USB dongles with no problems. I had OS8.6 on my Vantage G3 and it worked fine,
I now have a G4 with OS9 or is it 9.04 on the Vantage which also works fine. You might
need the newest BD Inits v3.4 to run anything over OS8.6 . Ask your rep for this if
you don't have it or perhaps someone could send it to you.

Quick questions:

We are running a PowerMac Desktop (300mHz) on a Vantage SE. It is
using system 8.1. We wanted to upgrade the system to a more modern
version (Sys 8.6 or 9.2) in order to improve performance and take
advantage of USB. We had planned to install a USB PCI card to do
this.

Interestingly, BD has claimed they do not support anything higher
than OS 8.1 on this configuration!?

1. Has anyone else upgraded the OS on a similar system and does it work?

2. Must Cellquest/Vantage use only OS 8.1?

3. Has anyone put a USB card in such a computer and does it work with
Cellquest/Vantage? We want to use it to drive a printer.

Thanks in advance for any input or advice.

Mark
