[Cell Cycle arrest and pre-synchronization]

Dear Flow-ers:

I'm new to flow cytometery and would like to examine the ability of a
compound my laboratory is studying to induce cell cycle arrest in
adherent colon cancer cell lines. Is it necessary to synchronize the
cells before exposing them to the compound? The cells do synchronize
with serum starvation, however it takes 48-72 hours so I was
wondering if there might be a faster way to synchronize the cells,
such as using mimosine or another chemical. Any advice you can give
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Michelle Lane
