Hi Everyone Many thanks for all those who replied to my email concerning the BD cytokine array kit. There was a 50:50 split between those who'd got it to work on non-BD machines and those who hadn't. I've attached messages from correspondants who've cracked in on Coulter XL and Luminex machines. Everyone seems to agree that it's a very good system. Best wishes Simon Watson #1 Simon I have tried the CBA beads on the Coulter XL and it looks pretty good. BD has a protocol for setting it up on the Coulter, and if you follow the instructions, it is fairly easy and straight forward. Need to use the Expo32 software tho for better results, the 3.0 doesn't give good enough resolution. I am just waiting for our institution to upgrade our Exel software so that I can do the analysis before using this assay routinely. There were some drawbacks that my Coulter salesperson let me know about, mostly reproducibility problems. I would need to run it a few more times, correlating with the cytokine gene expression results before I gave it my blessing. Cathy Mayeski Flow Supervisor All Children's Hospital St. Pete FL #2 Hi, Simon, BD can provide the specs for running these assays on a Coulter. We have used this system and lots of the kits/home brews for the Luminex machine--same principle, different instrument. Very nice technology.
