Flow Cytometer Manager / Operator - Research - Boston
You will take charge and be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a
Beckton Dickinson Vantage SE with DIVA electronics and BD FACScan flow
cytometer. You will also provide expert service, support and training to
scientists as it relates to the execution of experiments that utilize the
facility. This will include drawing from your expertise in Biology and Chemistry
or engineering, as well as your research demonstrated in your publications, to
assist the staff scientists in solving day-to-day problems that arise during
their research efforts.
Minimally a BS, MS or equivalent degree is required. Solid theoretical knowledge
in Biology and Chemistry or engineering. Experience in use of multi-color flow
cytometry and sterile cell sorting is required. The successful candidate should
have competent research and strong computer skills including knowledge of
Windows NT and Macintosh and use of BD CellQuest software. Experience in the
setup, use and maintenance of laser technology is a plus. Excellent
communication skills, a desire to provide competent support to facility users
with multiple research interests and diverse backgrounds. Proven experience in
the theoretical areas of biology and chemistry and the application of those
theories to achieve scientific goals.
