Calibur, Autoloader, and Cluster Tubes

We have two FACS Caliburs with autoloaders, and most of the people in our
center love the autoloader. However, we have one problem on one but not the
other instrument.

We do most of our staining in 96 well plates, and after washing the cells,
we use a multichannel pipettor to transfer the cell suspensions to 1 ml
cluster tubes. We then simply drop the cluster tubes inside a 12x75 FACS
tubes that are already arranged in the rack. On one of our Caliburs, we can
run the tubes this way with no problems. On the other, however, the cluster
tubes occasionally don't come down with the 12x75 tube when the lifter is
lowered, and then the cluster tube gets jammed in the next tube. We've tried
to gently bend the SIP to better align it, but this hasn't worked.

Has anyone else faced this problem, and solved it?

Thanks,

John
