In reply to your questions about spillover and sheath fluid use we have experienced neither of those problems in our lab using a Calibur with the loader. We run approximately 15-30 patient specimens (panels, not tubes)/ day and see no spillover problems using an acquisition start delay of 5 seconds. As for sheath fluid use, we refill the tank only once/day for a total of 20 liters/month! If some people are using more than that then it might be a failure to return the instrument to stand-by after the run. We have lots of data to back up our claims about no spillover problems. We love the loader and the walkaway features of the Calibur and would encourage anyone to include that on their instrument. It's worth a full FTE to us. Sincerely, Bruce Greig Immunopathology Lab Vanderbilt Univ. Medical Center Nashville, TN.
