David, I think this behaviour is normal, because MacOS doesn't read "open" CD-Rs unless you use the Direct CD software and the CDrecorder as drive directly connected to the Mac... on the Adaptec WWW page there is more detailed information about this... http://www.adaptec.com/tools/compatibility/dcdread.html If I understand it right, you might be able to access the disk over the network if you have it inside the CDR writer, but not in a conventional CD drive... however I have not tested this, and you might have to install the Direct CD on the networked machine as well... I doubt that you can read the disk in the PowerMac if it's in a CDR writer which is itself connected to a PC... maybe the other way round it works ??? I'd be curious if anybody comes up with some realworld results, because we might have the same problems here in the future... cheers, Matthias _____________________________________ Dr. Matthias Haury Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia Unidade de Imagiologia Celular Rua Da Quinta Grande N° 6 - Apt.14 P-2781 Oeiras Codex Portugal Email: mhaury@igc.gulbenkian.pt Tel: + 351 (01) 440 79 85 Office Tel: + 351 (01) 440 79 10 Secretary Fax: + 351 (01) 440 79 70 _____________________________________ At 08:55 -0500 18/2/99, David L.
