For simply translating Elite files, I have a couple of programs
that will do what is needed.
KEYS will read out and/or dump to a file the keywords and their
values in the file.
LOOKUP will lookup individual keywords and values
LDATA will read out and/or dump histogram files, and
LLDATA will read out and/or dump listmode files.

All of these, and their documentation are available for anonymous
ftp from flowcyt; instructions on anonymous ftp follow :

Use your ftp program to connect to flowcyt.cyto.purdue.edu, whose
numeric address (if you need it) is 128.210.60.31

When you are asked to log in, type 'ftp' (without the quotes).
When asked for a password, please type your e-mail address, or your
name.

then type 'cd pub/purdue' (again no quotes, not here and not ever)

then you can use 'dir' to see a directory listing,
you can use the 'get' command to get the document files,
and you can use the 'bin' and 'get' comnmands to retrieve the program
files.

This software is for PCs running PC-DOS or MS-DOS, and is in the
pub/purdue
directory of flowcyt.cyto.purdue.edu

p.s. and I think I've got the mail software beaten into submission, now.
