Many thans to Geoffrey W Osborne (geoff.osborne@anu.edu.au) for
calling my attention that the disk capacity of the HP diskettes:
"Format option 16: 18 sectors per track, 80 tracs per surface,
1,747,560 bytes total" was incorrectly specified in one of my
recent messages. He was absolutely correct, this number was a
typing error.
The correct number comes from the number of sectors (18), tracks,
(80) disk sides (2) and length of sector (512 bytes):
8 x 80 x 2 x 512 = 1,474,560. The capacity that is avalilable for
data storage is, of course, lower.
The HPtoMac disk conversion program reads those HP diskettes in a
Mac which use 512 bytes sector size (format options 2 and 16).
Sorry for this error.
