Fine points for those who might be interested:

Similar to LLDATA, MFI (version 3.4E available by anonymous ftp from
flowcyt.bio.umass.edu) will convert list mode FCS files to an ASCII table.
Different from LLDATA, MFI will do so after gating if desired.

Unlike the LDATA/LLDATA series (if I understand them correctly), MFI will
create an ASCII non-correlated histogram file from an FCS listmode file.
Moreover, a gate can be applied, the number of channels can be reduced by
powers of 2 (by pooling adjacent channels), and the result can be
Savitzky-Golay smoothed, all prior to export as ASCII, if desired.

KEYS will extract the 'text' content of an FCS file to the screen
or a file. MFI will display (screen only) this information (one file at a
time) from a menu list of FCS filenames in a 'point and shoot' fashion.

MFI also allows inserting a line of text as a sample label into each FCS
file from the same point and shoot menu of filenames.
