I use a Magneto-Optical drive on my HP 320 setup. It appears to be the
best of a bad lot as far as backup storage goes. I started with a tape
drive on a HP310 but when I upgraded to HP320 the tape drive became
incompatible. Storage capacity on the disk is good, but seek/write time
is slow at best, mainly due to inherent file handling problems in the HP
operating system. Similar conversations with my BD rep came up with the
same answer, change to a MAC (for only 12000 pounds sterling!). As large
scale users of MACs this would make sense, but the existing equipment
still does the job. Perhaps I'll wait till BD asks me to road test a new
MAC, or my HP breaks down!
