Molecular Probes sells a fluorescent reagent named ADIFAB which reports
the concentration in cell cytoplasm of long chain unbound fatty acids
(both saturated and unsaturated). There is the possibility that lipid
peroxidation will affect fatty acid metabolism so as to shift the free
fatty acid concentration -- it may not have been explored. So this
is just an idea to put in the hopper ...
