VoxBlast Features and Benefits

The same program runs on different platforms: IBM PC with Windows 3.1, or Windows 95/NT; Macintosh series II, Quadras, or Power Mac; most UNIX boxes, including Sun, HP and SGI. No matter what computer you have, our program will work with it. Also, if you buy multiple copies on different machines, there is no learning curve to move to a different machine.
VoxBlast UNIX is network friendly. It is written in Motif and X11 and includes VoxNet, a Sockets based protocol for distributing resources on a network. You can buy one copy of VoxBlast and everyone in your institution can use it. By distributing processing functions, you can maximize your network resources and work efficiently.
VoxBlast is measurement oriented. VoxBlast was designed from the beginning to let the user easily extract precise information from volumetric data. With VoxBlast you can do fractional slice interpolation (correct 3D measurements are impossible without this), calculate volumes in 3 different ways, get true 3D distances, areas and angles on a 3D surface, generate a standard set of 2D and 3D statistics, historgram, profile and depth plots, etc. Most 3D progams on the market were written for visualization. Getting accurate 3D measurements from them is difficult, if not impossible. VoxBlast is the only program now available that will give you so many precise measurements of volumeric data.
VoxBlast includes a standard set of features for exploring 3D data sets including: viewing from any angle, transparency, pseudocolor with 16 million colors, 2 lighting models, scripting functions with a propriety scripting language (VoxTalk), 2D cutting plane at any angle, clipping plane at any angle, palette editor, movie loop generation, data set resizing and resampling, flood fill and auto segmentation, and much more. These features let you extract information from a 3D data set that would be impossible to obtain by simply viewing the individual 2D images. You can view internal details while maintaining a perspective of the whole volume, thus gaining a new appreciation of the relationships in the data. These features also let you make beautiful images for publication.
VoxBlast has two rendering engines: an alpha based renderer for transparency effects, and a polygon renderer for surface rendering. You can extract surfaces from volumes in VoxBlast (2 1/2D and full 3D) which can be rendered with the polygon renderer or exported to CAD programs. You can overlay voxel images on polygon images and vise versa. The two rendering engines give you great felxibility in how you display your data. Use the alpha renderer for transparency effects and viewing internal details; use the polygon renderer for exploring surface details or modeling functions. The merge capability gives you a powerful tool for combining data sets, e.g. a PET scan and an MR scan, or drill holes and seismic data.
VoxBlast lets you write your own modules and compile them into the program. VoxBlast's extensible architecture means you can concentrate on adding the functions you need without having to write all the code for handling the 3D volume.
VoxBlast is fully supported with frequent upgrades, provided at no charge for the first six months from the date of purchase. Ater the first 6 months, Maintenence (new releases and ongoing phone support) is 10% of the software. VoxBlast's development and support team is responsive to your needs. We listen to our customers and include their suggestions in upgrades.
