We found U937 to be positive for CD4, CD11a, CD11b (dimly positive), CD54, CD58, CD71 as well as beta-2 microglobulin and prion. Cells were also positive for CD45 but negative for CD45RB and RO. CD45 RA was slightly positive. U937 was negative for HLA Class I and II mAbs, as well as CD3, CD8, CD16, CD57, CD14, CD19, CD59 and CD25. These stains were done in 1993, but it was later reported that U937 stocks from ATCC were contaminated with some other cell line (check the cytometry list archive around 1999 for details). I don't know how clean our stocks were at the time of this phenotyping. Hope this helps. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paula Lavery Transplant Immunology Lab.
