RE: loader

Dear Anne,

We have intermittently using the loader for about 4 years. Several problems
did occur. The most frequent one was the jamming of the lifter rod. The
lifter rod is moved upward by a spindle. The spindle in its turn has two
ballbearings. the lower bearing can under circumstances be exposed to the
sealine fluid spilled by sample injection needle. if the driptube round this
needle is removed fluid can leak directly on the lifter rod this passes
along the sealing ring into the spindle compartment (anybody still there?).
And as most of us know ballbearings dislike sealine fluids and get jammed
eventually. We constructed a solution to divert the sealine fluid away from
the bearing. Perhaps an other fix can be found in replacing the sealing ring
by a real sealing ring: a simmer ring. We were reluctant to try this for
this might give to much friction in the rod movement. I hope this is any
help to you.
