From: Bob Leif To: cyto-inbox This is the purpose of CytometryML. I had a poster on it at ISAC, which is now available at CytometryML page of www.newportinstruments.com. The contents of this poster have been expanded and refined in a paper, which has been submitted for publication. The idea is to integrate cytometry data with conventional medical informatics. The obvious solution was DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine), which has been supported by the College of American Pathologists for digital microscopic images. Since this idea was met with considerable resistance, I have prototyped a new standard. This new standard, CytometryML, is based on DICOM data types and implemented in XML. HL7 is also doing a similar implementation for their codes. -----Original Message----- From: Carla G Hill [mailto:Carla.Hill@bms.com] Sent: Monday, August 12, 2002 5:54 AM To: cyto-inbox Subject: Clinical Test Nomenlature Flowers, Are there guidelines for standard nomenclature for flow cytometry testing and reporting? We are in the process of establishing an assay reference guide for our clinical laboratory and would like to capture the functional name, technical name and methodology for flow cytometry testing. I would like to know if there are any national or international guidelines we could follow. Carla
