SCIENTIST/SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST STEM CELL TRANSPLANTATION/DIAGNOSTIC
IMMUNOPHENOTYPING

This position would suit a registered medical laboratory technologist or
scientist with extensive experience in clinical haematology and diagnostic
immunophenotyping. The successful applicant  will be responsible for the
performance of stem cell assays by flow cytometry and cell culture,
immunophenotyping by flow cytometry and immunocytochemistry, interpreting
the results together with haematologists and pathologists, the training of
staff and providing scientific leadership in the further development of the
service.

The laboratory is an integral component of the haematological oncology and
bone marrow transplantation service for the Auckland District Health Board,
providing a comprehensive flow cytometry service including a diagnostic
immunophenotyping service for leukaemia and lymphoma and has a well
established expanding bone marrow and stem cell transplantation programme.
The referral population is over 1.5 million and centred in Auckland.

Auckland is a cosmopolitan harbour city with a population of approximately
1.5 million. The climate is temperate and there are world class facilities
for sailing and other ocean related activities, plus easy access to superb
beaches, mountains and wilderness areas. The nearest ski fields are 4 hours
drive away and the cost of living compares well with that of European
cities.
