An equally cheap alternative is to buy a jewellery sonicator (?25 in the UK so prob $25 in the US) and put some Coulter Clenz in it. It works fine, is battery operated and "looks" semi clinical so it doesn't frighten the lab safety guys when they do an inspection! We've had one for 6 months now and it's great. It did the trick for me a few times (with intentional obstruction of the stream). I "invented" it a week ago and since we filter all samples with a 40 micron strainer clogs are rare. The investment is about $ 80 into a Sonicare toothbrush.... and you need to convince your spouse that one of the measuring spoons is superfluous in the kitchen. Any further improvement is welcome. It's also good to remove salt crystals in the morning. Cheers, Akos (Biogen)
