EVC 304 abort rate

Dave,

From my experience on the FACSVantage a high abort rate occurs if
the cells are not flowing 'smoothly'. This condition usually exists
when cells are 'clumping' rather than staying in single cell
suspension. If you are running fixed cells and are filtering cells
before sort I don't understand why this would occur. I experienced
this kind of abort rate in attempting to sort mouse neurons which
were clumping and settling as I sorted. When we treated cells to
eliminate this 'clumping' my abort rate dropped significantly. This
problem is more apparent when running cells at a higher rate as well.
If you see pulsing of spurious events on the pulse display rather
than a constant pulse formation than this is the problem.

Good Luck
David
