Bangs Laboratories, a small company located NE of Indianapolis, has an immediate opening
for an R&D Manager in our laboratory. While this is a management level position, the job
requires hands-on lab work. Experience synthesizing or working with microspheres/beads
is a plus. We are looking for a person with extensive flow cytometry expertise, who
will push forward the development of products focused in this area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the research and development of Bangs Laboratories'
in-house products. The position can supervise R&D Scientists and/or Associates.

* Coordinate the overall operation of research and development activities.
* Plan R&D activities for the group.
* Responsible for project planning and communication of project status to stakeholders.
* Assist with production trouble shooting.
* Arrange for order of raw materials and supplies when necessary.
* Produce in-house products when requested.
* Perform research and development work for new products and assays.
* Train and supervise R&D Scientists and/or Associates in this area.
* Assist with technical service, trouble shooting and applications support as necessary.
* Present periodic internal mini-seminars on technical topics as needed.
* Present seminars at conferences, workshops and customers’ facilities as requested.
* Participate in product development projects as team leader or team member.
* Member of Technical Team.
* Member of the Management Team.
* Maintain laboratory work area.
* Maintain equipment.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry
or related scientific field and general, broad-based scientific knowledge. Superior
laboratory skills, with five years of research and development experience, preferably
in industry, are essential. Experience utilizing flow cytometry in a clinical
or research setting is also required. The person filling this position must be
self-motivated and organized, with good interpersonal and leadership skills. Product
and application-specific training will be provided.
