para/formaldehyde & minimacs

Two things:-
1) Thanks you so very much, everyone who had replied to my
minimacs/sorting queries, which I have yet to digest properly ( being
occupied with pushing back the frontiers of science, as one does). I
am extremely grateful for the time and consideration taken to help.

2) I make "FACs fix" by mixing a 2% w/v solution of
paraformaldehyde(powder) with PBS, and swirling it with bits of
sodium hydroxide pellets until it dissolves. Then I pH it to
neutrality. It seems to stay in solution for months, and to fix the
cells, but I have no idea what you might call it. Alternatively, it
can be dissolved by heating in the microwave! Done in little
increments this is as safe as the care you take. I don't do it any
more!

best wishes everyone and thanks again.
