We're having a problem with the Coherent 305 water cooled laser on our
Elite which has gotten progressively worse over the last several uses.
First ly , the laser emits a distinctive odor when its running
[argon?]. It also occasionaly shuts off. We just noticed that the plug
[where the power supply plugs into the wall outlet] was burned [looked
black]. We then shut down the power at the main and called service.

Via phone, the service technicican suggested it is the plug or outlet
and is sending me a new one. My impression is that something is wrong
internally with the laser.

Can anyone offer some ideas as to what might be wrong?

Thanks for any advice,
Tom
