Try Leibowitz 15 (L15) medium at +4°C. We used it for years with ficolled PBMNC in our lab and it never induced changes in their characteristics. In fact this is because the buffered power is make using acidic and basic amino acids and not bicarbonate. Thus the pH remain stable at 7.4 and cells prefer.
