Hi Gary, We are still using 8.1 on most of the Macs attached to cytometers here, but the virus protection I use is Dr Solomons Virex (v5.8.1 at the moment, which I think - don't quote me - should be compatible with system 7.0 and above). We have found that there are no problems with this and it is very user-configurable allowing automatic scanning of any disk as it mounts and the hard disk periodically. There are a couple of useful sites at: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/computer-virus/macintosh-faq/ http://www.sherpasoft.org.uk/MacVirus/reference/ Are you using the same computer/processor on both cytometers and have they the same configurayion as regards control panels and extensions? Best wishes, Derek On 2 Mar 2000, Gary A. Ward wrote: > We recently installed Norton Anti Virus software (version 6.0) on our > FACScan and FACSCalibur. Both are operating with Mac OS 8.6.
