Hello Brian and All, There is no doubt that there is a slow learning curve on the BD TurboSort option. But persistence will definitely pay off -- in our lab, we now sort routinely at speeds that are 3 to 8 times faster than before the upgrade (that is we are now sorting routinely at 6,000 to 16,000 cells per second) with excellent purity and recovery. We would, in fact, dread the idea of going back to a mere 2,000 cells per second. We have many more people using the sorter -- because they are now able to sort cells and not bankrupt their budgets. Glenn Paradis at MIT has, I believe, a mailing list of TurboSort users --- so you might find that a source of help for specific issues. My general impression is that many TurboSort users have gone through an initial period of 6-12 months of frustration --- followed by purrs of contentment. So stick with it! Alice Alice L.
