RESEARCH SPECIALIST POSITION (Philadelphia) The Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a leading research organization, has an opening for a Research Specialist in a laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine studying the molecular basis of cancer. A significant amount of the ongoing effort is directed at DNA content analysis, apoptosis assays, analysis of co-transfected cells and analysis of both live and fixed cells. We seek an individual with at least two to three years of full-time experience with Coulter FACS machines and protocols or experience with other analyzers. The primary responsibilities will be to operate/maintain a Coulter Epics Elite FACS Analyzer with three lasers, generate protocols, prepare samples for FACS analysis, and provide technical support for users. The specialist will be expected to perform data analysis and generate reports using instrument software as well as MacCycle and MacLas programs. Some tissue culture work will be expected. The candidate must possess a MS degree plus two years of research laboratory experience or a Bachelor's degree plus four years of research laboratory experience in molecular and cell biology; and excellent communication and organizational skills.
