RE: MS Word virus

Sorry guys, no virus of bug, just one of these microsoft compatibility features
(of which there are a lot).

The attachment opens perfectly word 97 but makes funny things in word 6. There
was a converting program to run under win 31 which I got our IT people to
install at Unilever at the time but I do not know if it exists for other
platforms. If we have to attach I would suggest to either attach the file as
text or at least down to word 6. Even better might be rich text format.
Word, or particularly graphics in word are a waste of space. If you save your
word documents as html format they do not only turn smaller (less than 163 kb
instead of 630 kb as an example of the recent 'attachment crisis' on the list)
but also makes them more compatible. Of cours ideally you attach them as a
hyperlink to a web-address.

Regards
Gerhard

I have recently come across a number of MS Word files corrupted with a virus.
This could be the reason for your problems. Dr. Solomon's Virex version 5.9.1
took care of the problem. If your computer gets used by a lot of different
people as mine does, I would recommend getting a virus protection program and
then check for updates/upgrades every month.

I don't know what type system was used to make the MS Word document
with the HL60 phenotype, but my Power PC Macintosh with MacLinkPlus
can't read it with its Word 6.0.1. All that appears is gibberish no
matter what choice I make for the conversion. Is there a solution to
this problem?
