I may be streching it a bit, but would Norton Disk Doctor do the trick?
That is what I've used to change two characters in a CellQuest file that
was on an IBM disk so that CQ could again read the file.  I wonder if NDD
(or equivalent) would also let you see the pt information and change it
accordingly.
