The operator is expected to become fully familiar with the commercial and custom software used in facility and be able to assist researches in learning this software. The operator is expected to carry out routine maintenance on the equipment. Moreover, the operator will be expected to gain understanding of the usual biological applications, cell handling techniques, and reagents used by researchers in order to successfully analyze and sort data of high quality. Qualifications: Minimum requirements are: BA level training in biological and/or engineering sciences. Must be well organized, able to prioritize, and eager to learn new techniques. Ability to work with a wide variety of people and good verbal communications skills are essential. Prior experience as a cell sorter operator in a biological research setting, research in cell biology or related areas, or use or maintenance of scientific instruments is highly desirable. The more experienced candidate is expected to have a combination of education and experience to work independently as a flow cytometer operator and be a resource for users. The classification and salary will depend upon the candidate's background and experience.
