Description: Responsibilities of the Manager / Director position will include leading the Science and Technology Services Team to include the Research, Clinical and Industrial business segments. The individual is accountable for the leadership and development of the Science and Technology Services Team (STST) initiatives. This will include the continued development of protocol related to our customer communications/satisfaction (external and internal, phone and web-site), customer training for instruments and applications, technical information and technology acceptance. Additionally included are the integration of such activities with the critical organizational stakeholders (Marketing, Medical, Regulatory, Business Development, Technical Support) and the continuous engagement of the Science and Technology Services Team in project work including product development, customer relationship building and training/orientation for the BD-J personnel. Responsible for transfer of core competencies from U.S.-based BD businesses to BD-Japan. Qualifications: Typically requires a PhD in Life Sciences (PhD / post doctoral training in USA preferred), or equivalent combination of related education and experience. Previous experience in a leadership role and solid background in a customer-facing role with accountability for managing/handling customer issues/concerns to their resolution are preferred. Demonstrated capabilities to lead and/or manage, challenge organizational barriers, work through others to achieve results, and balance customer/business focus such that the organization is continually achieving higher recognition for its customer focus. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate at organizational levels. Knowledge of GMP/ISO and other regulatory agencies (Japan and worldwide) in relation to healthcare/instrumentation manufacturing/complaint handling (i.e., FDA, CLIA, 510K; Japan MHW regulatory practices; etc.). Strong foundation and extensive experience in Japanese culture and business practices as well as familiarity with U.S. practices and experience with diverse business teams. Fluent bilingual English and Japanese required. Effective interpersonal and management skills. Effective analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
