Hi Aki, A good red (well, more orange really) alternative to CFSE or other green markers is PKH26 which emits at about 575nm and can be excited by a 488nm line of an argon laser. We have been using it as a marker in cytotoxicity studies but it can also be used to monitor cell proliferation. We have found that we get a good 3-log decade shift of fluorescence over background. Apparently it can also be used to label phagocytic cells. Ours comes from Sigma in the UK but I am sure there are other sources.
