HL-60 serves well as an apoptosis-inducable positive control.

I think the latter is more accurate.  I don't know if the term apoptosis was
first used here, but Kerr et.al, suggested " 'ap'tosis " as the proper
pronunciation thus dropping the "op" entirely.  (Kerr, J.F.R., Wyllie, A.H.,
Currie, A.R.  A basic biological phenomenon with wide-ranging implications in
tissue kinetics. Br. J. Cancer 26, 239-257 (1972).)
