My one line dismissal of CD43 was perhaps over-interpreted. I was really
thinking of acute leukemias. In particular, we recently had a pediatric
autopsy with an acute leukemia-like disease (diagnosed at autopsy) that
was a "CD43 only" phenotype in paraffin and frozen tissue after performing
about two dozen markers. In addition, T-cell and B-cell antigen receptors
were germline.

I do believe that there is some utility for CD43 in combination with other
markers in distinguishing low grade B-cell malignancies, as has been
pointed out.

Have a Happy Holiday.
