We have sorted for years using a buffer which is 1% BSA in PBS and have not had systematic problems with droplet charging. Occasionally we have had multiple side-streams or a "fanning" effect in which a mist blows around the plates; but these situations can generally be traced to dirty charge plates, faulty connections, the wrong setting on our Elite's "front porch" or even a clog. I don't know about the BD sorters but would be quite surprised if a 1% BSA buffer could not be effectively used with them as well. Happy sorting, Gilbert ***************************** Gilbert McCrary Walter Reed Army Institute of Research 1600 E.
