Colleagues, About two years ago we acquired a used FACSTAR Plus. It came equipped with a stream viewing video monitor. I was relatively new to the field at that time and in any case had never worked with this particular instrument before. The resolution of the stream against background seemed poor from the start. Recently the monitor lost all resolution of the stream. I can barely make it out and its worthless from a practical standpoint. I had only changed the nozzle recently so I tried adjusting the mirror and strobe light but to no effect. The machine is ten years old - is the monitor simply on its last legs? - the background is very greyish and the contrast adjust doesn't help either. Luckily I reinstalled the microscope and that works OK. Any thoughts? Gene Pizzo/UCONN Health
