CYTO-STATS

IgG3 (mouse)The CD8 antigen is a disulfide-linked dimer.The molecular weight of each monomer is approximatively 32-34 kDa. The CD8 molecule is found on a T cell subset of human peripheral blood lymphocytes called "cytotoxic / suppressor". A subset of Natural Killer (NK) cells expresses the CD8 antigen but with low to medium density expression. It is also present on most thymocytes where it is frequently co-expressed with CD4, and on a subpopulation of bone marrow cells. The CD8 molecule acts with the T Cell Receptor (TCR) as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecule in antigen recognition. These antibodies recognize the a chain of the CD8 molecule. B9.11 and B9.2 antibodies are different Isotypes recognizing the same epitope. CD8 antibodies are useful for evaluation of cytotoxic / suppressor T cells. T8 antibody was evaluated during the First International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens. B9.11 and B9.2 antibodies were evaluated during the Third Workshop.
