Robert Habbersett provided a very useful description of IDL (Interactive
Data Language) in the December 1992 issue of the National Flow Cytometry
Resource (NFCR) Newsletter, published by Los Alamos National
Laboratory*. IDL is a high-level interpreted language used for data
analysis, which, through the use of some basic instructions, can be used
to read Flow Cytometry Standard (FCS) data files. Dr. Habbersett has
used IDL to develop a program, called IDLYK, to perform several
different kinds of graphic and statistical analyses on FCS files. This
program was the subject of a poster presentation at the recent I.S.A.C.
meeting in Colorado Springs, where I asked Dr. Habbersett about the
comparison to PV Wave. He told me that PV Wave was actually "written"
in IDL. I suggest contacting Dr. Habbersett at the NFCR for more info.
