intracellular antigens/PI

Hello Flowers,
For those of you following Clevenger-type methods for staining cells for DNA
plus an intracellular antigen: after p-formaldehyde fixation and treatment
with 0.1% Triton-X, do you leave detergent in the washing and staining
solutions for all subsequent steps? Published protocols seem rather
ambiguous on this point. We want to cut down on non-specific staining, but
suspect that the triton-X will interfere with our specific staining as well.
Thanks for your help.
