Lifetime of Nozzles + Cleanup again...

Hello again,

this is another one for the sorting specialists:

1. Is there a degradation of the ceramic nozzles by ultra-sonication ? How
long do you normally use them ? And are there special detergents that one
can put into the sonicator to improve the clean up ??

We have recently found out that we have much more problems with clogging
with our older nozzles than with the new ones, however under the microscope
they look fine...

2. It seems (from the Shapiro Flowcytometry Book references) that in the US
there are some companies that supply ceramic nozzles for the
flowcytometers. What are the experiences of people using their nozzles (I
suppose BDIS buys from one of them...). Are they as good as BDIS ones, are
they cheaper ??

I haven't contacted the companies yet, as I wanted to hear peoples opinion
on this subject first...

Thank you very much for any hints.. As this risks again to put a lot of
traffic on the mailing list, I suggest that you reply directly, and I post
a summary afterwards...

Merci, Matthias
