Roy Overton, in the November 1988 edition of Cytometry published a
subtraction algorithm to do background subtraction. This subtraction method
was supposed to deal with the question of shifting "negative" peaks and give
a more "accurate" positive/negative result. In the July 1989 issue (p.492)
there is a correction to the PASCAL source code he provided in the software.
The Coulter Elite software incorporates this subtraction protocol in its
Immuno-4 analysis page. I believe Phoenix Flow's MultiPlus includes a
version of this subtraction algorithm as well. I hope this helps.
