I have developed a flow method using some monoclonal antibodies developed
in my laboratory with a >two log separation of fetal or neonatal cells
from adult RBCs, resolution to 0.1% and simplied data analysis using
Verity Software's Modfit to model % neonatal hgbF containing cells and
so-called F-cells with lower levels of Hgb F. My goal is to
commerciallize the monoclonals and method and currently in the earlier
stages of this, so I can not give you a estimate of when such an assay
will be commercially available. There are also other published methods in
the literature, such as S. Thorpe et al, Brit J Haematol 87:125-132, 1994,
Horiuch et al, Cytometry 20, 261-76, 1995 (image method), and Medearis et
al Am J Obstet Gynecol 148, 290-295, 1984. Hope this info helps.
