We have been using CellQuest for approx. 1 month now and have been
experiencing an annoying and sudden crashing of the software while acquiring
data. The error message reads, "Application unknown has suddenly quit,
system error #1".

As BD has informed me that error #1 refers to a memory problem, I have
increased the memory for the application to 6000K and am still experiencing
the crashes. I first thought it was a problem with the acq and storage
options applied by some of our users with rather messy samples, (ie stop acq
after 10000 events within G1 and store all events), thereby filling RAM with
alot of other 'junk'. But this is inconsistent with the observation that I
can get the software to crash with this same error message while collecting
only 4000 total events.

Is anyone else experiencing this same problem and if so, have you figured
out a solution? Is there an equivalent LYSIS direct disk storage method for
the MAC? Will increasing the allowable RAM yet again, say to 12000K be
beneficial? As BD is looking to fix this bug with the next upgrade, I am
looking for a solution in the mean time. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
