This may seem like an oversimplist approach to your problem but, check that
the amount of memory you have allocated for use by CELLQuest is set to the
maximum available after that required by the system. Check the memory
currently allocated to CELLQuest using the "Get Info" option on the "File",
lock it at 10 Meg for example, and close down "unnecessary" application
which may also be running concurrently.
In our hands, on a similar system, we don't get these sort of memory errors
until we have about 32 contour plots over 4 pages, and then try and flip
things to the clipboard.

Hope this limited advise is of some use.
