Subject: HPCOPY and HPDIR problems

Hello,

As our only flow cytometer is usually busy acquiring data, I installed
the WinMDI software and paraphenalia on a PC. Though luck, though,
becuase I can't get the HPdir and HPcopy prg's to copy the data files
from drive to harddisc. It keeps returning "error 158". Hints, anybody?

Tech specs: B-D FACScan, HP series 300 type 9000 computer with HP9153C
disc drive, running under HP pascal 3.0. The PC is a standard 486 DX-2
(66 MHz) clone, with standard highdensity 3.5" drive.

Thanks,

Guy,

HPCOPY and HPDIR will only read HP diskettes formatted by HP MEDIAINIT
program using option 16. Diskettes formatted by LYSYS or Master Page
are not suitable because MEDIAINIT is called with other option numbers.

Joe

You have found the right team!

Applied Cytometry Systems sell allsorts of goodies
that will allow you to move data from HP to PC or
to collect data directly into your PC and control
your cytometer with a PC.

Checkout our WEB page below for more info and send
us a message.

Please note we will have a skeleton staff from the

Subject: HP to PC

Guy,

there are some other useful programs available to copy files from HP to PC.

1. We use CopyHP instead of HPCopy. I could download this program from
"http://amcradio07.amc.uva.nl/flow/flow.htm" but now downloading does
not work. (AMC.UVA.NL is down; site is being reconstructed...GH)

Copy HP 1.0 (ZIP-Archive) (Can only be obtained locally).
Format HP Floppy's and copy HP-Files on a PC.
Requires Microsoft Windows 3.1 or better.

2. In USA (Verity Software or National Instruments) as well as in
Germany (JTES) you can buy a soft-/hardware kit (approx. 1000)
which makes it much faster to copy files from the HP to PC. JTES will
send you a testtrial kit for up to 10 days. It is very easy to
install the HPIB board into yur PC and to run the software (we have
seen this in a lab at University of Regensburg/Germany). In our lab we failed
to connect the HP with the PC (????). A 486/DX33 is very good but the
HPIB cable is limited to about 4 m distance from the HP to the PC

Guy,

the address is:
JTES BioTec
Dr. Juergen Treumer

D-24991 Freienwill
Phone: 0461-180542 (private: 04602-1390)
FAX: 0461-180557

There are two different versions available.
1. Just file transfer HP->PC and PC->HP (DM 1.190 plus 15% TAX)
2. File transfer, printer buffer for the HP, and HP printer connected
with the PC (this you needs if you have a HP colour printer at your
HP). Price DM 1.640 plus 15% TAX).

For the PC you can get only a DOS program but it runs under windows
3.1x. You also have to install a file on the HP in Vol. #11. An
english version of the PC and HP software is already included.
I think it is a wonderful solution for transmitting files from the
old 300/310 HPs and it is very fast.

Yours

Hans-Peter
