H-Y is a classic "minor histocompatibility antigen." One of the
hallmarks of minor histocompatibility antigens is that they are MHC-re-
stricted. Thus it is very difficult, if not impossible, to generate anti-
body-mediated reponses to them. Pick up the September 15, 1995 issue of
Science or the August 24th, 1995 issue of Nature for two recent publica-
tions regarding H-Y. Actually, this is the the only significant data
regarding H-Y in years...

In light of the fact that antibodies cannot be generated to H-Y,
