There was a review of Bernoulli vs. Syquest vs. 230 MB optical disks in MacUser
in approx. Jan-Mar. of '95. Although it was oriented to the Mac market the
article had a lot of good general information, especially for those switching
over to the Cellquest software.

Bottom line from the artcle- optical disks are:
1.) Cheaper than the other media. Initial cost of the drive is more
(w$1000), but after the first 2 Gigs, you are spending less per MB
because the media is cheaper.
2.) The 230 MB optical disk is a industry-wide standard. All 230 MB
opticals "should" work on all 230 MB drives.
3.) Although 230 MB opticals WRITE a bit slower than magnetic media,
they all READ at more or less the same speed.
Specific makes are reccomended in the article.

I was also considering R-CD which are the recordable CD's. However they are not
erasable! I have limited experience with Cellquest (so take the following with
a grain of salt) but I found that I had to have BOTH the list mode file AND the
Cellquest printout file in the SAME folder for the list mode file to be
recognized. If this is indeed the case, then one would constantly be having to
download list mode files to the hard drive in order to manipulate/print them.

We are going with the 230 MB optical disks, when our procurement agent finally
gets through with the order...

Surfs up, gotta' go!
