This person will (after suitable training) be primarily responsible for:
- Operating the dual laser FACStar Plus.
- Maintaining, calibrating etc. the Sorter and FACSCan.
- Scheduling instrument use & recording usage for accounting purposes.
Also assisting users in data analysis, experiment design, use of equipment.
There is also some scope for a support role in the general computing
facilities of the institute.
Essentials:
- An interest in complex machinery and technology.
- Someone quick to learn and apply new skills.
- Communication! Hearing users needs and working out with users how it might
be done, or why it can't be done (at present...)
Desirables:
- Experience in Flow Cytometry, particularly BD Sorters.
- Knowledge of Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, ......?
(well I can hope!)
- Computing skills, particularly support & training rather than programming.
We are a new fully autonomous institute, associated with both Sydney Uni &
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
We are a pure research group with no direct diagnostic function and no
direct patient contact.
