Yes. We published on that lysing/fixing reagent last year: Nicholson,
J.K.A., and Browning, S.W. Ability of "OptiLyse" lysing/fixing reagents to
inactivate HIV-infected H9 cells in whole blood. Journal of Immunological
Methods 168:283-284, 1994. This article relates to HIV inactivation; if
other agents are of concern, the level of formaldehyde to inactivate them
relative to HIV must be considered.

I am running a core cytometry facility here in Montpellier. I have been
asked
to analyze blood samples from patients with AIDS. These samples are treated
with OptiLyse solution from Immunotech which contains formaldehyde 3.4%.
Is this treatment adequate for a core cytometry facility?
